today i went to sf to watch the annual pride parade! this is THE event in sf cos it is so happening here.. the queer scene is major here.. pple respects the rights of everyone else.. (except for gay marriages..).. can see that this is bigger than japantown parade..

to end the day... i tried this special ice cream in downtown berkeley.. it was special because u can order a flavour of ice cream then request for assorted mixer.. mine was "cheesecake fantasy".. cheesecake icecream with strawberry, blueberry, cookie.. in a waffle cone! yummy.. but i could not eat dinner after this...

yesterday (friday..) i went out with a bunch of pple from singapore.. other than julie (the chinese girl in black).. all of them on exchange here.. going back next week.. this restaurant was a really popular one.. had to wait for one hour to get a table.. was recommended by julie.. one of the best meals i had in usa since ... :)

anyway.. thanks to lionel (guy in green jacket) who organised this n drove us ard in his rental... hope to see him again in singapore!

this is totally fk up ... as if my time revolve ard her...

usb card reader is working liao!!!
the stupid windows update changed my card reader driver to some "genesys logic" thingy..
hence it totally could not work...
when i change the driver back to "usb reader" or something..
it rebooted and worked!!! :)

grrr.. to think that i uninstalled so many apps during troubleshooting..

phD???

hm... pple here got phDs .... lots of pple got phDs..
in fact the phDs here are all 'hidden'...
just realised that some of my 'best frens' here in berkeley are phD holders!
n yet there is definitely no 'air' or difference in their manners..
somehow.. phDs are just too numerous here..
n they reached a point where the title 'Dr.' is pointless.. :P

hm.. one of the phD frens here told me that.. phD is useless lah..
wasting too much time for impractical knowledge...
yet... i feel.. the phD pple are getting an edge in interviews and so on..
cos of their quant skills.. hm...

still i guess phD may be too much for me.. i dun want to end up "jobless educated" in singapore..
dangerous leh.. :P

Internship and rivalry...

guess everyone got an impression of everyone else in the class...
some pple were selected for some company's internships.. but there were some great pple who weren't... sigh..
somehow.. this caused some controversy ... sigh..
true lah.. definitely some pple will not be happy.. but i am still glad that i was not in the 'problem' set...

this got me thinking.. how are these companies selecting their interns? sometimes there are just no patterns for selection .. rather random one.. hopefully.. i can just get lucky n get selected for some great companies.. :P

new term.. new hopes...

hopefully... just had a dinner with my term groupmates...
this term is not gonna be easy..
1) four classes (instead of three last terms)
2) four projects (instead of one)
3) internship woes.. need to find one before the good ones are gone..
4) interview woes.. if i get selected for interviews..

on the bright side,... i am getting a better understanding of the classes...
n also this term gonna concentrate abit on programming! my forte at last.. :P
keeping my fingers crossed for a good sell-side internship...

on 27 may, i went to solano ave... it is a famous street in berkeley.. with lots of restuarants and supermarkets... they were having a chalk art competition to boost the local businesses.. quite good idea.. maybe singapore can start some chalk art thingy...
